Historic Hill Inn

Donna and Richard made me feel like part of the family. They were warm, welcoming, and went out of their way to accommodate me, which made my visit to Newport unforgettable. Historic Hill Inn’s location is hard to beat: two blocks from the harbor and wharf, among great restaurants and lively nightlife, and an easy walk to the International Tennis Hall of Fame. I had a wonderful stay and highly recommend it for comfort, charm, and location.

We were really happy we stayed at Historic Hill Inn over the 4th of July week. The hosts love sharing what they know about town and gave us useful tips for eating, drinking, and sightseeing. The Wharf area is about five minutes away, with food, drinks, and fineries, but the inn is far enough off that the crowds weren’t something we heard or saw. Just remember it’s a home, not a hotel: there’s no elevator, and the stairs can be tricky with heavy or awkward luggage. We can’t recommend it enough.

The king room was clean, roomy, and full of natural light. The bathroom was a bit small and stuffy, though it wasn’t too bad, and the AC helped us sleep comfortably. The neighborhood was quiet, and we could walk pretty much anywhere in 10-15 minutes. The owner was really friendly, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was standard, nothing special, but fine for a quick bite before saving room for a better meal later. Good value and an affordable stay. Thank you.

We travel at least monthly for vacations, both nationally and internationally, and as much again for work. This was one of our best stays of the year. The room was huge, with a comfortable king bed, lots of windows looking onto a charming little street, a smart TV with subscriptions to lots of apps, and a mini-split AC and heat that my wife especially appreciated. The bathroom was large and modern, too. Breakfast was just what we needed, and the staff were so friendly. It’s a block and a half from the main drag, far enough to avoid nightlife noise but still only a five-minute walk to bars, restaurants, and shops. Perfect location and service. We’ll stay again next time we’re in town. Thank you!
