Bellevue Manor

It was in the low 40s for most of our time in Newport, and there was no heat in our room. We kept asking for it, but the unfriendly, unapologetic staff gave us excuses and promises. The one good thing was the breakfast, made by a very nice young man.

We’ve stayed here for the past 3 years. It has a quaint location and a real old world, historic feel. Kim is fantastic with customers.

We were so tired that the slightly hard bed and old ceilings creaking with every footstep didn’t bother us much. The room itself was very large, and breakfast was fresh and delicious every day. The hotel is on bellevue ave, right by the tennis hall of fame, with the mansions, wharf, and cliff walk all within walking distance. The newport shuttle also stops right outside, which is handy if walking is difficult. Check-in was at the inn, and we stayed in the house, though everything seemed connected with the manor. Highly recommend this hidden little spot in newport.

The location and building are nice, but for the price I wouldn’t recommend it. I chose the room for its jacuzzi tub, only to find it wasn’t working when I tried it the first night. I told the front desk manager the next morning. When I got back at 3, the new manager hadn’t heard about it and no notes had been left. To his credit, he sent maintenance right away, and they fixed a fuse. The tub worked that night, but only half the jets did. There’s no coffee pot in the room, just a station on the main floor, and it wasn’t clean or stocked. I was told I could get coffee in the basement where breakfast is served, but that doesn’t open until 8, and I’m an early riser. The bed and pillows were incredibly hard, and something loose outside the bedroom windows rattled loudly in the wind all night.
