The Wynstone

Rick was so helpful and hospitable, even calling regularly to check whether we needed anything. We booked this inn at the last minute and were glad it worked out. The historic place was lovely, our room was clean, the mini fridge had drinks in it, and the bed was really comfortable. You can’t beat the location.

Breakfast was amazing, and the staff were extremely friendly. We had a comfortable room and bed at the Admiral Farragut, with a whirlpool bath as a nice extra. The area felt quiet and relaxing even though the main strip in Newport was just two blocks away. We’ll definitely return.

We went for our first anniversary, but the Jacuzzi bath was dirty and didn’t work, and the place looked nothing like the pictures. It’s very outdated. The location is great, and I’d stay in the area again, just not here. We were the only guests in the whole building, and there was no staff to turn to if we needed anything. We had to drive two miles to pick up the room and building key, then return it two miles away, with nobody there to hand it to. I’ve never experienced anything like that. Not worth the price, especially when you can get much more elsewhere.

The location is great, but the price still doesn’t feel justified. There seemed to be mold, which is a concern because my husband has allergies, and the jacuzzi, supposedly the main attraction, didn’t work. We also found ants in the bathroom and cobwebs on the pillows. There was no heat, though a space heater was provided in the room. Wynstone is a nice b&b, but it felt dingy enough that a hotel would have been nicer and cheaper. I’d consider staying if it were a bit less dingy.
