Travelodge Newport/Cincinnati Riverfront

I stayed at this Travelodge from 10/14 through 10/21 and paid cash at check-in, including a $50.00 room deposit. I was told motel staff would clean twice during the week. Instead, they left all the trash in the room, and I had to carry it out myself. The only clean towels I got were ones I demanded at the front desk, and once they didn’t even have any. The room had horrible bedbugs. I complained, was told they’d replace the bed, and they never did. It was a smoking room, with burn marks and damage on the bedding and carpets. I did basic cleaning myself during the week. The night before checkout, I spent over two hours using a wet washcloth to pick debris off the carpet, wiped all the fixtures, bagged the remaining garbage, and cleaned the drawers, tabletops, and refrigerator. I asked them to mail my deposit because I was in a hurry to leave. When I called on 10/25, they refused, saying the room “was deplorable.” The staff were rude. Just before I left, I asked the cleaning crew in the hall where I should take the leftover garbage, and they looked at me like I was from outer space. Not honoring the twice-a-week cleaning they promised was bad enough, but the lack of linens, no guidance about trash, bedbugs, and their overall attitude mean I’ll never stay at one of these motels again. I’ve traveled extensively for over 30 years and have never been so disgusted or disappointed in a hotel chain.

My daughter woke at 4 am downstairs covered in red welts. We pulled back the covers and found bed bugs. I filmed them and told the kids to bag everything in case they’d gotten into our belongings. The man at the front desk politely moved us to the third floor. That room was much smaller, but clean, and we didn’t find bugs there. Still, the older woman at the desk was so rude throughout our stay that I haven’t come back. I’m serious, her rudeness bothered me more than the bed bugs. I’d actually stay on the third floor again, lol, but if there’s a chance she’ll be there, I’d rather drive 15 miles south than be treated that way. My teenage daughter even said, “Mom, she kept looking at me real mean.” That was enough for me.

The shower had hair all over the wall and even the bathroom door, and the sheets were covered in hair too. We were afraid to sleep in the bed. It was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but it reeked of smoke. The whole place was nasty and filthy, the worst hotel stay I’ve ever had. Don’t waste your money on this crap hole. I’ll never stay there again.

There were beer cans in our room. It smelled of smoke. Terrible.
