Yankee Peddler Inn

The calm, home-like feeling at Yankee Peddler Inn made a real difference during a hard time for me. I was in RI in late October while struggling with my mental health, and Liz made me feel like I was arriving at my own cozy home. She welcomed me right away, treated me like family, shared places to eat and see, sorted out parking, and even helped carry my huge suitcase up 4 flights of stairs. The room was quaint and super clean, housekeeping was great, breakfast was wonderful, and the Inn is beautiful. RI has become my favorite state, and this stay sealed it for me. I’ll definitely be back.

Breakfast downstairs was a lovely part of our one-night stay. The basement room felt quaint, almost like the south of France, and there were plenty of choices. My friend had some morning sweets, while I went with boiled eggs, oatmeal, fruit, and nuts. The inn has a colonial look and a comfortable, homey feel, and the welcoming staff were so helpful. Our double queen room was spacious and clean, with extra towels, which I appreciated. I could have used a bit more lighting, though that’s me being picky. Shops and restaurants on the main street are an easy walk away, but the inn is far enough from them to stay quiet. I’d come back in a heartbeat and recommend it for a Newport trip.

The cheerful breakfast room was a lovely surprise, with fresh fruit, bagels, oatmeal and lots of toppings, hard-boiled eggs, croissants, cereal, and delicious coffee and tea. I stayed with my teen daughter in mid-July, and we had a lovely experience. The carpets looked fresh, and the beds were comfortable with crisp linens. I’d read complaints about the place being old, but you’re in Newport in a beautiful old home built in the 1800’s. The slightly crooked staircase and other imperfections are part of its charm. Even the check-in desk, with keys hanging on a board behind it, was delightfully old-fashioned. Highly recommend.

The rooftop deck was a nice place to kick back, and the room felt warm and inviting. The owner was super sweet and hospitable, and we felt right at home. Yankee Peddler Inn is cozy and full of charm, just steps from downtown Newport and the waterfront. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend it for a relaxed Newport trip!
