The bed bug I found running across the mattress was the main issue, but the refusal to refund the room afterward was just as upsetting. I called the hotel several times without an answer, then contacted Priceline. They were told no refund would be given, though I could supposedly stay another night free. I’m from Texas and was traveling to the West Coast on a one-time vacation, so I’m not likely to be in Salt Lake again now or in the near future. I’d saved them from a bigger problem, and that response felt astounding. I’ve already contacted corporate. I check every hotel for bugs regardless of cleanliness or condition. I didn’t see anything during my first search, so we stayed. The next morning, while I was packing up, my daughter yelled that there was a bug. I went into panic mode, grabbed it, put it in a plastic cup, and took it downstairs to show them. They thanked me. The breakfast area and lobby were busy, and with five kids there was a lot going on, so I didn’t say more at the time. This put my family at risk, and I had to be extremely careful, bagging anything that had touched the floor or beds. Panic mode is awful, but it’s a survival instinct. The hotel also needs a major remodel, which seems to have started, and they need to address the potential bug problem. Thanks for your time.

The room smelled like heavy vaping before my stay, or maybe it was coming through the vents. The beds were so uncomfortable that I’ve slept better outside on sticks, rocks, and dirt. WiFi was useless, not even my email would load, and the hot tub was out of order. Every outlet was loose enough that my new phone charger wouldn’t work. The drain stopper had no working pull rod with the faucet they’d installed, so I had to pry it up with a knife just to wash my hands. The shower was low enough to hit me around the middle of my torso, and I’m 6'1", not a basketball player. Room cleaning also has to be requested during your stay. Breakfast was okay, I guess, though I didn’t see eggs with the sausage and ham while I was there. Do not stay here.

I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless you only need one night and have an early departure. I was there for five nights, and the TV worked maybe twice, if that. Breakfast was supposed to run 6-9, but it actually ended at 8:30. If you weren’t there by then, the food was gone and they didn’t replenish it. The pool area was loud with guests until almost midnight on Sunday. Some of us have work, and I called the front desk around six times without anyone answering. Housekeeping was also disappointing: they made the bed, but left my bins full the entire stay. They even moved my things from one chair to another, and I’m not sure why they touched my stuff.

The receptionists were friendly and helpful, and I liked the breakfast. Still, I spent about a week dealing with a room that smelled of paint and cigarettes, with no way to air it out because the window and sliding door wouldn’t open. My key cards also stopped working regularly. The hot tub was out of service and the internet was painfully slow, like dial-up. I’d give the place three and a half stars without the internet problem. They shouldn’t advertise that they offer it at all.
