I've run countless corporate events for American National at South Shore Harbour Resort, and every one has been exceptional. The venue is beautiful and well-maintained, but it's the staff who set it apart. They make planners and guests feel welcome and supported throughout. From planning to execution, the team is attentive, professional, and good at anticipating needs. Events of any size or scope feel seamless and stress-free, with precision, warmth, and a real commitment to service. I'm always confident bringing high-level clients here. Highly recommend it for corporate events, conferences, or any occasion where quality service matters.

I ended up involving Expedia, and management was reluctant to refund the whole night, though Expedia somehow persuaded them. I wouldn't trust this hotel for a peaceful stay again. Things can break or smell unpleasant, but I felt the way the hotel handled problems wasn't client-centered. At check-in, the computers weren't working properly and no one could troubleshoot, so it took 15-20 minutes. Then at 10:40 PM we found the heater in our room was broken. The technician wouldn't come, and instead told the front desk staff to go room to room looking for one with a working heater. The staff member came into our room and immediately said it felt like an ice box. We went from empty room to empty room until we found one that seemed to have a working heater. It was 12:30 AM by the time we got settled, and we were all tired the next morning but still had to get up for our reservations and plans. When I spoke with the front desk the next morning, there was no apology or sympathy. She said the heater in our original room was working now and insisted we had to leave the temporary room by 11 AM if we wanted the original one back. That seemed unreasonable since the broken heater had made us move in the first place. Ironically, the computer stopped working again, so she couldn't process the transfer back and we had time to move out of the replacement room. That evening, my sister and brother-in-law checked into the adjoining room. It smelled strongly of marijuana. We aired it out and the smell went away, but didn't report it because I no longer trusted them to make things better.

A long overdue note about the place where I got married in 2017. South Shore means a lot to my wife and me. We celebrated our Halloween wedding there, and the staff even came by to check out the atmosphere. It was an awesome night I'll never forget. Thanks to everyone for the hard work, great food, and service. We're locals and will definitely come back for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!

Our room had a spacious, clean king bed room, plus our own balcony with a view of a little dock. The bed was harder than I like, but that was my biggest room complaint. At check-in, there were about four staff members at the front, but only one woman acknowledged me. I didn't get her name, but she was friendly and helped me quickly. The others didn't greet me or even look my way. She explained which restaurants were available and their opening times. At checkout, a different woman was at the counter. I think she was one of the staff who hadn't greeted me on arrival. She didn't acknowledge me or look up, so I told her I needed to check out while she stared at her computer. She asked if I'd received a receipt under my door, and I said no. She said to hang on while she checked me out, then told me she had done it. That was it, no good morning, no question about my stay, and no asking whether anything could have been better. After that interaction, I can see why people say the staff are rude. That woman might be better suited to a job without customer service. If she'd been like the woman who checked me in, I'd have no complaints.
