The Blackbird Lodge

The lodge was so relaxing, and we loved it. Our room was very clean, with a beautiful view from the balcony, and the ladies at the front desk were very sweet. We can't wait to return in winter, and next time we'll stay much longer. Parking is a little tight, so bring a compact car.

Right at the edge of the river in town, this resort was within walking distance of all the amenities we needed. Our room felt cozy and welcoming, and the staff were wonderful.

Clean rooms are my biggest concern when choosing a place, and this one has to be among the top three cleanest I've stayed in. I had a studio that was fairly spacious compared with other studios or economy rooms I've used, and the basics like towels were there. It didn't have a kitchen, just a microwave and mini fridge. There were only four cups in the room, but dishes and wrapped plastic utensils were available on the second floor. The bathroom had just one sink, which was a shame, and only two bars of soap were provided, so bring your own shampoo or whatever you use. I had to check in after hours. If you'll be late for the 4pm check-in, call ahead so they can leave your keys in the drop box in the parking garage. That was helpful since the front desk closes at 5pm. I didn't interact much with the front desk, but the staff seemed nice and personable when we crossed paths and at check-in and checkout. The lodge is only a block from the main part of Leavenworth. My room faced the hospital and town and was pretty quiet, while the other side of the building faces the mountain and river. Parking was tight because the garage is really tiny. If you have a big vehicle, I think you'll need to park somewhere else. I don't know if this was just because I had a studio or if it applies to all rooms, but I had to take out my own garbage and put it in the bin out front. There was no housekeeping during my short two-night stay, so I can't really comment on that. The garbage and parking were my only real gripes, but I had a great experience overall and would recommend the place. Another review here says they felt discriminated against because the man was of a different ethnicity. I'm Black and had no issues with staff or other guests at the Blackbird Lodge. Take that for what it's worth.
