Chambery Inn

The old schoolhouse brought back great memories for me. My wife recently retired after 41 years of teaching, and I spent 3/4 of my school years in old school buildings like this. I especially loved seeing the separate "boy's" and "girl's" stairways I remembered from the 60's and early 70's. There are chalkboards and plenty of chalk in the room if you want to leave a mark. We usually seek out small town inns around the northeast. My wife gave me a Chambery Inn gift certificate for Christmas, and with several family members dealing with serious health issues, we thought a quick break for rest and relaxation was just right this past week. It was a fantastic stay. The owners kept in touch in the hours before we arrived, our room was ready early, and they left the key and a welcome bag at the front desk. With only one other room rented, on the lowest level, the place was so quiet and peaceful. Snow showers made it even more relaxing. Our room was large and comfortable, with a mini-fridge, large screen TV, Alexa alarm clock, and more. Breakfast was delivered in the morning. I loved our stay. If you grew up around old school buildings, I'm sure you'll love it too. This place is a TEN!

The hot tub was clean, roomy, and easy to use, and the breakfast delivered to the room was delicious. Bob was kind, helpful, and accommodating throughout our relaxing stay. Our room was cozy and amazing, and the chairs by the fireplace were just the spot to slow down and unwind. We can't wait to spend another night here and would happily recommend it to friends and family.

We were looking for a quiet winter town, so the sleepy feel in January suited our romantic getaway, and we'd definitely return. The schoolhouse restoration is clearly cared for, and our beautiful, clean room had a guest-signed blackboard and a fireplace that kept it perfectly warm. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a rock, though its frame creaked a little. The shower pressure was weak, and the toilet paper holder was awkwardly placed, so you had to twist backward. Check-in and checkout were easy. In the morning, a large basket of breakfast was delivered, and we ate in bed. We also booked the in-room 1.5 hour couples massage. It cost a bit $$$, but Marcie worked some kind of magic. It was easily the best massage I've had, and I've had quite a few. I felt completely relaxed with no soreness afterward. Somehow she released years of tension in my shoulders and neck that other masseuses hadn't managed.

The hosts were incredibly nice and accommodating, and the suites were spacious, clean, nicely furnished, and well supplied. Those cookies were delicious, too. I'd give the inn a solid 10. I can't think of anything that could've been better, and I'd recommend it to anyone. If I were in the area, I'd stay here again without hesitation.
