Super 8 Moody

The front desk response made a bad stay worse. When we raised the problems, the employee said that was why he didn’t stay in those rooms and that he just worked there, then put his headphones back in and ignored us. We also asked to move, but were told we couldn’t because we’d booked through Expedia rather than the hotel. The room itself was filthy and poorly kept: three cockroaches were crawling on us while we slept, there was dried snot on the shower walls, and cigarette burns across the bedding. The air conditioning barely worked, the bathroom door had holes patched with duct tape, and the cracked tile had been partly glued back together with grout. This was the most unpleasant Super 8 stay I’ve ever had.

I stayed here some years ago, and the place has really gone downhill since then. Everything in our room was dirty, from the filthy fixtures to mildew and hairs on the bathroom wall. There was a huge stain on the floor, and the bed cover had 16 cigarette burn holes. The HVAC unit was literally falling apart, and someone had written the control labels on with a pen. It was gross. I’m surprised Super 8 has its name on the place.

For the price and how late we got through town, this was a great stay. Check-in was easy, the room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. It felt much nicer than the itchy-sheet hotels I remember from the past. There were a few chairs, plus a mini fridge and microwave.

At $141 for one night, I expected no roaches and water warmer than barely enough to shower with. There were cigarette burns in the shower curtain, bedding and curtains. The other guests seemed very shady, and I felt uncomfortable walking between the car and the room. Definitely not Wyndham standards.
