Comfort Inn (lees Summit)

I checked in at 4:43 pm and left at 5:15 pm. The room was filthy, with hair ties, fake eyelashes, and candy wrappers beside the bed, plus poop on the bathroom floor. It smelled like weed, so it didn’t feel fully smoke free, and the door had a gap wide enough to put your fingers through. Anyone in the hallway could see inside. I didn’t feel safe, and that didn’t concern the woman at the counter. She was nasty, and when I asked for my money back she refused and immediately got an attitude. The lobby smelled worse than any hotel I’ve been in, and they serve food there. Save your money and go to Comfort inn. I don’t know how this place passes inspection. It’s disgusting, and I’ve never smelled a hotel lobby stink so badly.

The staff were amazing and moved us to another room without us even asking. Our first room felt damp and so did the sheets, like they hadn’t fully dried before being put on the bed. We told the staff, someone came and felt them, and they said they’d give us new sheets. The room still smelled damp, but we thought we could live with it. After we got back from shopping, they told us they were moving us. The new room was great and had no smell. The beds were comfortable, just the right firmness. The pool temperature was normal, not too hot or cold. The water looked green but wasn’t. Breakfast was good, the price was great, and Aldi and Home Depot are within walking distance, with Perkin’s restaurant right across the street. I’d recommend it.

I didn’t expect much from Super 8 by Wyndham – Lee’s Summit, but the stay was still unacceptable. The carpets were filthy enough that my pink socks were visibly dirty after a short walk. While I was eating, a roach moved inside the carton of food I was actively eating from. I’d just checked in with several bags, set the food down briefly, and only saw the roach when I picked it up again. The front desk offered another room when I reported it, but that didn’t fix the fact that my dinner had been contaminated. Check-in was awkward and unwelcoming. The staff member didn’t clearly explain where my room was or offer basic guidance, and waited for me to ask questions. There’s no elevator, something they didn’t clearly tell me, which is a real inconvenience with luggage or mobility concerns. I assumed a Lee’s Summit hotel would be reasonably maintained, but cleanliness and basic service were severely lacking. Checkout was worse. The employee from the night before apparently told the manager their version before speaking with me. When I asked if he was the manager, he began responding based on what he’d heard without first asking about my experience or the roach in my food. He said, “That’s not what the employee said.” I told him it felt like he was calling me a liar. He got hostile and told me to leave. He insisted he hadn’t called me a liar, but showed no concern that a roach had gotten into my food and ruined dinner. Being dismissed and talked over, and treated like I was the problem instead of getting concern about a serious sanitation issue, was unacceptable. I wouldn’t stay again and don’t recommend this hotel. It blows my mind that this roach motel has Wyndham’s name attached to it. I saw the manager’s reply again calling me a liar. They had time to dig through the trash, but not to apologize. I booked through Priceline, and refunds are hard to get through a third party, but why should I have to deal with that? Clean your rooms and hire more polite staff. The only defense for the bad experience was that I could have switched rooms after finding a roach in my food. Wyndham has to do better!!!!!

The stay was great aside from check-in. Wyndom wanted me to check in online, but the property didn’t receive the information, so I had to do it all over again. I appreciated how quiet the heating unit was, though I wish the thermostat worked better. I had to turn the unit off at night.
