Leesburg Colonial Inn

The toilet still wouldn’t flush the next morning, even after a kind staff member named Jonathan tried to repair it and confirmed it needed more work. The night before, my friend and I had only been in the room about 15 minutes when we noticed the problem. I called the front desk several times without an answer, so I went down to the bar to get help. Staff told us to hold the handle down instead of offering another room, but that didn’t fix it. We left much earlier than planned because there was no usable bathroom in the room, and we missed the breakfast benefit. I paid $300 for the night, which didn’t feel acceptable given what happened. I’ve called twice and emailed three times to try to settle this privately, but no one has replied. I’d stayed here before and had a good experience, so this was especially disappointing. I also checked the BBB site after seeing the hotel’s claim of accreditation on its website. The BBB says “The Leesburg Colonial Inn is NOT a BBB Accredited Business.” I hope management deals with both the maintenance and the lack of follow-up.

We came to Leesburg for a funeral and booked room #6, the “George Washington” room, for October 31st and November 1st. No one warned us that the bar below would have a Halloween party with an electronica DJ until 2 am. The bass from the subwoofer made the room shake right under our bed. Ear plugs and pillows over our heads didn’t help, and we couldn’t sleep, so we left the next day for another hotel. The place is presented as a quaint historic B&B, but it’s rooms above a cafe and bar owned by the same person, with no lobby or front desk. The rooms are small and shabby. I can’t understand charging more than $250 a night under those conditions. I left the owner a message asking for a call and haven’t heard back. I’d like at least one night refunded, though I doubt that will happen. Don’t waste your money here.

The bar food was good, and the staff were friendly and easy to get along with. Parking was ridiculously cheap and easy. The room was amazing, especially the shower head, probably one of the best I’ve used.

The staff made us feel right at home. The location was perfect, with a short walk to anything we needed. Our room was clean and updated but still rustic, and its high ceilings made it feel much bigger.
