The innkeepers were kind, the grounds were beautiful, and the room was clean. I did find the refrigerator in the bathroom a little odd. The room was small, which was fine, but its space could have been arranged more practically. A little table and chairs would have been nicer than the dated oversized chair and ottoman. The place could use some updating.

Hank was a lovely bonus!! 🥰 😻 We loved how comfortable and welcoming everything felt, and the cozy rooms had lovely lake views. It was just a few minutes from downtown, which worked perfectly for our trip to a friend’s wedding. Highly recommend!

The waterfront at Lake Leelanau is incredible, and we love swimming there. The room views are lovely too. Hot coffee and fresh muffins in the morning are a treat. Whaleback is always a joyous stay, cozy, clean, and conveniently located.

Sitting on the main porch watching a storm was such a nice part of our stay. This tucked-away place had clean, charming rooms. We plan to return and would definitely recommend it to others.

This is long overdue. We stayed for three nights last June, after first coming here 40 years ago, and the place has had many improvements since then. Our room was immaculate and the views can’t be beat. The location is excellent for things to do nearby: we visited Leland and some wineries, had lunch in Suttons Bay, and went hiking. The innkeepers were very friendly. We loved relaxing on the porch with the resident cat, Hank, over coffee and muffins or an evening drink. There’s so much around the inn, and we’re planning to return this summer. Worth every penny.
