The rooms are spacious, and having a living area with a table, chairs, TV, and bed plus a separate bedroom you can close off for privacy makes it feel like a one-bedroom apartment. Every room has a full-size fridge, cooktop, and microwave. The location is great, just off I-35, a few minutes from downtown, close to the mall, and near lots of food options. A few more TV channels would be nice, but at $75 plus tax a night or $375 for a week, the price is hard to beat. I went to crap in last year tore up.

After four months here while working as a Field Engineer for Northrop Grumman, I was ready to paint the walls and hang pictures. It really felt like home. I even suggested management put up a “Welcome Home” sign at the entrance. The rooms are bigger and more livable than a typical hotel room, with a spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen and dishwasher, and a separate bedroom with a desk and loads of closet space. It felt like having my own apartment instead of just living out of a hotel. The maid service was lovely. Once, when I had to leave early for work, they even cleaned up my breakfast dishes. It wasn’t the fanciest or most modern place I’ve stayed during my years on the road, but it’s the one I remember most fondly. Just a casual, comfortable place where I could relax and feel at ease more than I would in a regular hotel room.

We left and found somewhere better. The location is great, but this hotel needs to do much better. The room felt close to a sh*thole, and there was no way it seemed like it was being renovated. The door jamb was broken, as if someone had tried to break in, and the kitchen counters had cigarette burns all over them. The living room had no ceiling light or lamps. In the bedroom, one small wall lamp was nowhere near the bed. The pillows were paper thin, like books thinner than books, and it would’ve taken six to equal two normal pillows. Furniture was beat up throughout, like it came from thrift stores, and cable wires were just strung through the room. Spend $5-10 more for something better.

The rooms were spacious and clean. Logan at the front desk made the stay feel more personal, like I had a friend behind the desk. He was polite, very helpful, and so friendly. He’d answered all my anxiety-driven questions before I even had to ask them.

The front desk guy warned me at check-in that the place was old and could use renovations. I should’ve walked away then. The room backed that up. There was a terrible smell from the old, filthy carpet, so I had to use carpet fresh to try to kill it. The old couch smelled too, and the egg crate cushion under the linen was deteriorating. There were water stains on the ceiling from roof leaks, a hole in the back of the door from the door stop, a bathroom sink swollen from water damage, and dirty towels. The TV looked like it was from 1985. It was unsanitary and made me angry, especially since I’d arrived early and was told the room wasn’t ready yet and they were getting it ready for me. Don’t stay here, no matter what discount a hotel site offers. This place should be closed and scrapped.
