La Quinta Inn by Wyndham Kansas City Lenexa

I was worn out after a long drive, so I just put up with the room, but I won't book here again. The hotel is dated, and my room didn't look like the pictures online. The floor hadn't been swept, and I'm honestly not sure the covers had been changed since the last guest. I also found a roach. The couch in the suite was stained, torn, and looked pretty questionable.

We booked for Thanksgiving weekend but left right away and found a much nicer hotel. The room had cockroaches running around, broken glass, dirty-looking sheets that seemed unchanged, and stains all over the couch. We checked around the bed for bedbugs but didn't see any. Even before going upstairs, we were uneasy about how the place smelled and how dark it was by the front desk. They gave us a full refund after we showed them what we found. A clean room is worth paying more for. I wouldn't spend my time or money staying here.

The location is great, but the decent pictures are misleading. When I first tried to drive in, caution tape blocked off the parking lot, so I had to find another entrance. It was so dark outside that I wondered if I'd reached the wrong place, and the lobby was just as dim. The first room smelled awful, so they moved me. The next one smelled fine but still looked pretty gross. The floors were old, dirty, and scratched, most fixtures were dated, and the walls and paint need professional care. The furniture was at least modern. I checked carefully for bedbugs and found none, but the mattress looked like it needed replacing. It's just not a nice place. I can't understand how it has positive reviews.

The room was updated, clean, and nice, with easy access and a comfortable bed. Breakfast was average, but it comes with the room, so I can't really complain. I'd stay there again.
