Days Inn by Wyndham Leominster/Fitchburg Area

We were in town for a funeral, and the stay was awful. The room was dirty, the bathroom was too, and the carpet felt so bad that I kept my socks on. Even the non-smoking room smelled like an ashtray. There was vomit by the front entrance when we arrived at 8 p.m.; we told the desk clerk about the problems, barely slept, and when we left at 8 a.m. it still hadn’t been cleaned up. After the funeral, we contacted Wyndham because we’d been charged for two nights instead of one, and to explain how unpleasant the stay had been. Months of emails and calls later, I’m still trying to get a refund. They say we used the room for that night because we left at 8 a.m. I’ve never known a hotel to let guests check in at 8 a.m. They also said I could get a refund if I drove ten hours from Virginia to identify the person who was working the desk that night. Unbelievable. Save yourself a terrible night’s sleep and stay somewhere else.

The staff were really friendly, but the guests definitely weren’t, and the place needs a lot of work. We were told there was an issue with our booked king room, and the key wouldn’t work, so they moved us to a room they called a double queen. The beds were full size, not queens, and pretty uncomfortable. We hardly slept. The plumbing was bad too. The toilet flushed only when it felt like it, and the shower had no hot water even though the sink did. There were signs saying work was being done, but it sure didn’t look like that was true. I won’t stay here again, and I’d suggest finding another place.

The employees were the only good part, and they tried hard to help. I had to switch rooms four times at check-in, and only got an acceptable room on the last night. The place is dirty and falling apart, with paint chips everywhere and mold on the air-conditioning unit. The pullout couch mattress looked like it had been picked up off the roadside. The bed skirt was stained, and the bedding was burned despite this being a non-smoking room. This place needs to be shut down.

It was cheap, and the rooms were clean, with a decent breakfast in the morning. But the doors kept banging and some guests got noisy. The rooms don’t block much sound, so I kept getting woken up at all hours. At least it didn’t cost much.
