The room itself wasn’t bad, and check-in had been pleasant. But when I smoked in the designated area 25 feet from the building, front desk attendant Susan called three police vehicles, an ambulance, and a fire truck. I’d told her I’d just worked a 12-hour day, so that response felt extremely unprofessional and over the top. I’ll ask for different lodging next time.

The room had grime everywhere, garbage under the bed, old food, and blood stains on the sheets when we arrived. It clearly hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly before our stay. Clean rooms are essential, and this one wasn’t.

The location was handy, right in the middle of things, and the staff were nice enough. The room had made beds, emptied trash cans, and fresh towels, but it still felt dirty. There were stains on the counter, lamp, and shower curtain, plus something sharp or pokey on the floor. I kept stepping on it, so I wore my shoes most of the time. The pool was closed, I never found a fitness room, and the TV’s Direct TV subscription had expired. Breakfast was the usual waffle maker, cold cereal, biscuits, and gravy. We came from Washington to fish and had booked a room with two queen beds for October 24 and 25. I called ahead to ask about trailer parking and was told we could park across the street. There was no such parking when we arrived, but we unhooked the trailer and squeezed into two spots. Luckily it wasn’t stolen. The Google pictures make the place look much nicer than it is in person. It’s a dive, which would be fine at dive prices, but we paid $189 a night. At $40-90 I wouldn’t mind these issues, but that rate felt like a rip-off. It was also a major inconvenience that there are no stairs to the rooms and only one elevator, which always seemed busy. I’ll avoid it on future visits.

The location was convenient, the staff were friendly, and breakfast was ready early and really good, which visiting fishers will appreciate. I just wanted the shower to get a little hotter. I’d definitely stay again.
