ACE was the only bright spot in an absolutely awful stay. The room felt like a major legal liability, though I hope they’re remodeling. There was popcorn under the bed, and the filthy pullout had no mattress, pillows, or blankets. When we asked, staff said they didn’t have those things. There were no extra towels either. The smoke detector hung from the ceiling, and the bathtub rods were broken out of the wall, so you couldn’t hold on to them. We used the lobby bathroom because there was no extra toilet paper and found two syringes on the floor. Breakfast was a mess, too. Some long-stay guests, a family, took muffins, two bags of Fruit Loops, seven full plates, and a thermos of orange juice in shopping bags. When I mentioned it to the desk guy, he just stared. Someone should tell the guests that everyone gets to eat. We also got an unexpected show. The mother started twerking and tweaking, pulled up her already short outfit, and just kept going. Then she asked the women if she could braid their hair. I’m not sure what was going on there. I’ll attach two pictures.

The rooms were nasty. I’m fairly sure there were dried blood stains and splatter on the wall, lampshade, and box mattress, and the couch was ripped to shreds and unusable. One person in my party had a door that wouldn’t lock or latch. The hotel seems to be non-smoking, but that didn’t stop people on the second floor. It seemed like every other room had cigarette or weed smoke. The side door to the outside was broken, too, so anyone could walk in without a key. The owner needs to invest heavily or drop the Comfort branding. Avoid this place. Drive ten minutes and stay somewhere else.

I left immediately and booked another hotel. When I came back a few hours later to ask for a refund, the front desk said they couldn’t give me one and that I should have asked for a different room sooner. With the condition of the lobby, elevator, and room, I didn’t feel comfortable staying anywhere on the property. The online photos didn’t match what I found. The lobby smelled strongly musty, and several men were lingering there. One checked me in; another was barefoot with his feet up on the furniture. The place felt uncomfortable and unprofessional. On the way to my room, I saw a handwritten cardboard sign saying the pool near the elevator was closed, and the whole area looked dingy. The elevator was visibly dirty. My two-queen room smelled strongly of moisture, possibly from mold or humidity, and wasn’t clean. The sheets had visible makeup stains and didn’t look freshly laundered, and the curtains were torn and in poor shape. The hotel seems to have serious cleanliness and maintenance problems. If you’re concerned about hygiene or air quality, choose somewhere else.

We couldn’t sleep because the hallways were so noisy until after 3am, including a worker talking very loudly out there. The room was extremely dirty and humid, and the metal fixtures were rusting. At check-in, the man at the counter said there’d be a $50 incidental charge that would be refunded after checkout. That sounded standard, so we didn’t question it. But our card was charged $61.11. When I called, they said I’d eventually get $50 back and claimed I’d been told about an $11.11 service charge. I was never told that. I was told the $50 was for incidentals and would be refunded. I’ve disputed the charge with my credit card company and plan to tell Hotels.com they’re taking customers’ money after the room is paid for. A terrible hotel.
