Lexington Hotel

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and check-in was easy. The room was nice, with the comfortable beds I expected, and the modern bathroom was easy for someone with disabilities to use. Remodeling was underway and got in the way of our stay somewhat. They were stingy with amenities: no toothbrush, toothpaste, mouthwash, razor, or shaving cream, and not many soaps, towels, or washcloths. There were cobwebs on the lamps, and no instructions for the baseboard heater.

The breakfast smell was off-putting, and we couldn’t find anything good about the place, even though we’re not hard to please. The bright colors made it look nice at first, but that was about it. There were needles in the parking lot, and the desk clerks weren’t friendly. The beds and pillows were awful; the bed had only two sheets and a fuzzy blanket between them, and that blanket was covered in someone else’s hair. The bathroom’s barn-style door kept opening, as did the shower door. Doors slammed all night, light came in under our door, and the bright blue clock was right beside the bed and couldn’t be moved.

Breakfast was hot, fresh, and plentiful, and the hotel was clean and comfortable. It’s also smoke-free, and I didn’t smell smoke or skunk weed anywhere. I hadn’t stayed at a Best Western in years, but took a chance on this one. The beds were great, the linen was fresh, and the decor looked modern. Some finishes look good but feel superficially cheap. I’d stay again.

Large trucks out front made the parking lot hard to get into. I’d been looking forward to the breakfast shown in the pictures, but all we got was a brown bag with an apple and yogurt, no juice, and only lukewarm coffee. I wish they’d told us about the massive renovation before I booked. I’m trying to sleep now, but the drilling, banging, and hammering are so loud I can’t.
