Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Columbia Lexington

The man at the front desk who booked the reservation for my family was pleasant and very nice. But when we arrived, the manager was nowhere around, so my son went to look for her. Once we explained that we had service animals, she said she needed to see them. I brought them to the desk, and she started making faces. We didn’t feel welcome or comfortable, so we decided not to book.

The rooms were awful, very old, and borderline disgusting. Hot water barely flowed, and the air conditioning struggled to get the room below 75. On top of that, they double-charged my room a couple of months ago. They acknowledged the duplicate charge but wouldn’t refund the money, despite saying they had. After months of calls and emails, I never got a return call from an owner or GM to try to get the refund. Awful hotel, staff, and lying customer service. Stay there at your own risk.

The location was great, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was hot and pretty tasty, and the beds and multiple pillows were more comfortable than what I have at home. The pool was closed for remodeling, but that was okay. My only real complaint was that the room door wouldn’t shut all the way unless you gave it an extra push. I’ll absolutely stay here again!

I was in room 126. The property is old, though it’s going to become a Marriott property and have renovations and updates. The rooms were clean, but dated: plumbing fixtures were coming away from their sealed places, there were visible cracks in the walls, and the thin carpets looked clean but had been shampooed many times. The toilet clogs easily, though water pressure and cleanliness were great. Everyone on staff I met was professional and friendly. The general manager happened to be at the front desk when we checked in and asked for an accessible room. The bathroom was already partly set up for accessibility, but didn’t have a seat, so the GM went to get one and put it in the bathroom before we arrived. They were pleasant to deal with. I don’t understand the reports about roaches or nasty rooms, because that wasn’t what I saw. The location is convenient for several restaurants, Home Depot, Lowe’s, and more. I’d like to see the rooms modernized and better cared for, but given the age of the property and the rate I paid, I’d come back if I needed to and recommend a stay. The beds were very comfortable.
