We got in very late after an accident and heavy traffic in Kansas City. The owner was gracious and helped me get my computer working at check-in. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and the price was excellent. The only thing that bothered me was the loud A/C. We’ll stay again.

I’ve written lots of reviews, but never one like this. If you’ve already paid to stay here, be careful. If you haven’t booked yet, I’d avoid the place. Don’t put the $50 deposit on a credit card. And if you use Apple Pay or Google Pay, don’t unlock your phone and hand it to them through the window. The $50 deposit itself is fine, but they charged me $55 and returned $50 the next day. That’s what I see as the scam. They also asked me to sign a paper confirming the incorrect charge. One man said the extra amount was due to a 3.5% fee, which should come to $1.75. A woman said they charge every customer $5. I’ll be disputing this with Citibank. This started as a good review and turned bad.

There were cockroaches all over the room. I told the night staff member when I checked out, and he brushed it off like it was nothing. Unless you’re fine sharing a room with roaches, stay somewhere else.

We booked one room with two queen beds but were put in a room with twin beds instead. At check-in, the woman at the desk charged us an extra $37 and couldn’t explain why, and she wouldn’t give us a receipt. The service was the worst we’ve ever had. The sink was coming off the wall, the sheets were covered in hair and what we hoped was mud, and there were dead ticks in the bathroom and shower. When we asked for a clean room with queen beds, she screamed at me and threw another key through a mail slot. That room was still filthy, smelled terrible, had twin beds, and had dead ticks. We asked for a refund and got yelled at again, with no receipt and no money back. It’s cheap, but nothing like the pictures. Pay more for a better room, or sleep on a park bench. You’d be better off.
