The room was about $170 on Expedia, and for that price it felt more like a hallway than a private room. KPH calls itself a low budget motel, their words, but you could rent a hotel room in Palo Alto CA for the same amount. The room, shower, and toilet were tiny and basic. The windows are covered with screens and glass shatters, and the wooden door shatters can't be closed, so there was nothing to block outside noise, weather, rolling suitcases, or conversations from office staff, incoming guests, and people passing by. Apparently this is the cheapest room, and there's only one. I had no way to know that choosing it meant hearing conversations on the floor and below, and not sleeping until everyone else did. The towels were more like hand towels than bath towels, and the room wasn't very clean. I read that solo travelers love it, but they must be really short and skinny: my tall, broad-shouldered spouse couldn't bend enough to soap his legs in the shower. Keep everything else, but please don't call this a Hotel without making clear that the $170 room is more like a hallway than a private room worth that price.

A cute little place in Lihue with great hospitality. Parking is free, and you might meet Mango the cat. It's very affordable, with shops, restaurants, and a park within walking distance. The staff were helpful and friendly. Thanks so much to the craft, and Mahalo! We'll be back next time we're in Kauai.
Sara was the staff member to look for when we arrived. She was cheerful and helpful with storing my bag, and even suggested a great car rental place. The room was clean and tidy too. Definitely a good budget hotel to book.
We loved the staff, especially Rini, and the Kauai coffee they provide in the mornings is Da Best! Mango, their orange tabby kitty, is happy to greet guests, and the lobby has lots of interesting local history. The rooms are modest but very clean. It's a great spot for walking to restaurants and a new brewery less than a block away. If you're after an authentic Hawaiian hotel, this is the place.
I liked that the hotel was close to the airport and the best local food restaurants. The staff were friendly and the room was clean, but the room was small and outdated, with a full-size bed that could barely fit two people. Our original room was upstairs, and with no elevator it was difficult to manage heavy bags. There were cockroaches in the walls, kitchenette, and shower. After I told management, they moved us to a downstairs cottage room, but it also had cockroaches. Management said they knew about the problem and had sprayed insecticide, though the cockroach issue continued. They offered a 10% discount to stay in the same room, another room without a discount, or a checkout with a refund for the remaining nights.
