OUTRIGGER Kauai Beach Resort and Spa

I was very particular about bedroom cleanliness and found our room immaculate, with no issues at all. The rooms were also very clean, and the staff were absolutely kind. It's a beautiful resort right on the beach. The lobby construction may be a little inconvenient, though it wasn't nearly as noisy as some reviews suggested. I believe the spa is closed during the renovation too, so plan around that.

The rooms and grounds were spotless, and the landscaping was beautifully maintained. We had a newly remodeled Pool View/Partial Ocean View room with a very comfortable bed and a spotless bathroom; the shower pressure was great. The staff were friendly and personable, although the check-in agent spoke very quickly and didn't give us a welcoming smile. Getting around was a headache because of lobby construction. To reach our second-floor room, we had to go to the opposite wing, take the stairs to the third floor, cross over, then come back down. The towel setup was awkward too: exchanging a card meant going to the lobby, which was in the opposite direction from the pool. Several pool areas were blocked off without explanation, and the only Jacuzzi was out of order. The gift shop had a huge selection. We didn't spot the Starbucks in the back until our third day. Drinks at the Driftwood Bar stop at 6:00 PM, which is too early, and there is no poolside wait staff. Expect $29/night for self-parking, $39 for valet, plus a $35 daily resort fee. I wish the check-in staff had told us about the concierge services, which we called about on day two, and the QR code for resort information, which we found on day three.

We walked in and I immediately got that “oh no” resort feeling. Then the people who greeted us were so happy and pleasant, and the room turned out to be really nice. The TV gave us trouble, so I called the front desk and spoke with a very nice person, Megan I believe. By the next morning they'd moved us to an even nicer upgraded room and comped dinner for the following night. Dinner was great. Lexi was a fun server and seemed to show up at just the right moments, and there was a good bourbon selection. We're so pleased with Outrigger. They really will bend over backwards to make your stay fantastic. And it’s beautiful here.

The beach is beautiful, but there was quite a bit of plastic and trash on it, and it should be cleaned more often. Construction is still underway on the property, with sandbags or building materials visible in some areas. Adding more cultural or entertainment activities could also improve a stay. The hotel is in a nice location and offers good value for money. The kitchen is excellent, which is unusual for a hotel, and the staff were friendly, attentive, and professional. Towels were clean and the pool loungers comfortable. Management seems to be doing a good job, though a few things still feel unfinished. Even with those drawbacks, the price and quality are well balanced.
