Cabin Cove

The staff on site were nice, but I was charged for a two-bed room and given one bed instead, with no price adjustment. The room was tiny, the bed uncomfortable, and the frame felt cheap. The furniture looked like cheap Amazon furniture, and there were cracks in the walls and paint. Ants were coming out of the shower head.

Sea Echo Motel is a quiet, relaxed option for a low-cost beach trip. The rooms have basics like WiFi, a microwave, and parking. It’s fine for a short stay, though the facilities are basic and cleanliness may vary.

The room was clean and roomy, with a queen bed, and breakfast was simple but there was plenty of it. The front desk staff were gracious and helpful. We had a great overnight stay on the coast. Booking online gave me the wrong impression, though. I thought I was contacting the hotel directly, and should have called them myself.

We paid in advance, but after police confirmed we had done nothing wrong, we were still made to leave. The manager later tried to unlock our door while my family and I were inside, and their child from the property was seen peeking in through our window. Those incidents added to an already frightening stay. When I asked a basic question about the room microwave, I was told it was only for heating water. I calmly asked why, and the manager yelled, called me “annoying,” and threatened to kick us out within 30 minutes. An object was thrown in my direction during the confrontation, and I was afraid I might be hit. I started recording because the behavior felt aggressive and unpredictable. I also mentioned what looked like biological growth inside the lobby coffee equipment. The response got more hostile instead of addressing the hygiene concern. Housekeeping was apparently not included because of the rate we paid through a booking platform. We were given one trash bag every 2-3 days, and only if we asked, to take out our own garbage. There were just two towels in the room regardless of how many people were staying. Smoking rules weren’t enforced despite the signs, and guests regularly smoked just outside our window. Cigarette smoke came into the room whenever we tried to open it for air. Booking.com refunded us right away and removed the property from its platform because of what happened. The room is bare bones, and you can’t even use its one amenity. I wouldn’t stay here. I’ve never had a lodging experience that felt this hostile or unsafe.
