Inn at Wecoma

We went in the off season and hardly saw anyone else. The rooms were quiet, though the walls are thin, and ours was clean with everything working. The staff were helpful and polite. Breakfast was the usual continental spread, pastries, yogurt, eggs, coffee, and tea. There are some restaurants within walking distance, and more beach access points a short drive away. The neighborhood was quiet. The room matched the hotel photos and had a distant ocean view. It was a short walk to the beach, and the gas fireplace switched on easily. Even in October it stayed warm without the heat, so we slept with the sliding door cracked and could hear the surf. One quirky thing: the pool is indoors, but you have to go outside to reach it. That’d be a chilly walk in winter.

The sunrise from our second-floor room was fabulous. I think the rooms on the other side of the building face the ocean. It was quiet, we all slept well, and we always felt safe. The staff were friendly throughout, especially the kind gentleman who checked us in Tuesday evening, and the breakfast attendant was very present. It’s a great value, and I’d stay again. Our family suite had thoughtful touches, with plenty of mirrors, coat hooks, and a handy bench and shoe spot. I loved that the two twin beds were in their own room with a door. The beach was maybe a ten-minute walk, and there was a great little Mexican restaurant nearby. You can tell they’re working on updates and improvements. I’d been worried about the beds after reading other reviews, but they were fine for us.

The rooms were clean, and the beds were comfortable. The evening and overnight desk clerks were friendly and pleasant, but the day clerk was standoffish and rude. Breakfast choices were limited, and the person preparing it kept watching us to make sure we didn’t take too much. It felt like breakfast police, and made us really uncomfortable. I won’t be back.

The bed felt like a firm slab of plywood, and the staff were nowhere to be found, unhelpful, and unfriendly. The dishwasher said the dishes were clean, but they clearly weren’t, and it smelled awful. The floors didn’t look vacuumed, swept, or mopped. I got locked in the bathroom almost as soon as we arrived. The handle turned all the way around, but the door wouldn’t open, and luckily my husband was there to help me out. It was my birthday weekend, and we’d driven four hours to get there later in the evening. This was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. Save your money and sleep in your car, you might have a better stay.
