That spot between Belfast and Camden, right by a lovely lobster pound, is hard to beat, and I’d happily stay there again. The cabin was cute and decorated with a quaint seaside theme. It had a nice deck with two chairs, plus a stove, fridge, microwave, toaster, and, I think, a coffee maker, though I didn’t use them. Dishes, towels, and dish soap were supplied, but the warning about reimbursing the hotel if towels or bedding get stained felt a bit draconian. It’s a two-bedroom cabin, though the bedroom walls stop short of the ceiling, so sound carries everywhere. The bathroom walls reach the ceiling, but noise still travels easily, and the bathroom opens right off the kitchen. The wicker couch and rocking chair weren’t comfortable, and the kitchen table wobbled and only had three chairs even though the cabin sleeps four. Expect basic function over comfort or luxury, and go with people you know well. There’s plenty to do nearby.

The little porch with seats was a nice touch, and the cottage itself was cute, cozy, clean, and nicely decorated. Breakfast was simple but fresh. The bed was reasonably comfortable and the bedding was fresh, though the pillows were really uncomfortable. The bathroom wasn’t big, but it was clean and worked for us. There was no TV in our cottage, which didn’t bother us since we can watch TV at home. I’d stay again, but I’d bring my own pillows.

We’d already stayed once this season and are heading back again. The staff have been wonderful and accommodating, and the one cottage we’ve tried so far was adorable. It’s a tiny, clean, quiet place to unwind for a weekend, not a luxury hotel packed with extras. If you care more about charm and a chance to relax with family and enjoy the area than room size or how new the place is, this is a good fit. It’s not a Marriott or Hilton resort, and I’ll keep visiting Bay Leaf Cottages and recommending it to anyone wanting a peaceful break from the city.

We were pleased with what we got for the price. The room was clean, the grounds looked nice, and the staff were friendly. The beds were much more comfortable than I expected, better than some chain hotels and supposedly nicer motels I’ve been in. Five of us, two adults, two kids, and our dog, fit in one room and were pretty happy for the night. There’s a perfectly acceptable continental breakfast in the morning. They have both rooms and cabins. The cabins cost quite a bit more, though they may offer a little extra space. Small and medium dogs are welcome, but mention yours when booking. They provided a thoughtful dog package with food and water bowls, an extra towel and blanket, poop bags, and a list of local dog-friendly businesses.

The bathrooms could use more space, but I was here for a vacation, not to hang out in the bathroom. I really liked the room themes, and the rooms themselves were nice. Service was great, and I had a good time at this cozy hotel. I’m planning to come back next year.
