Our child was playing in a tournament at the hotel and was meant to return to our room with his key afterward. I was also running a slight fever and needed to rest, so the late checkout mattered to us. We are long-time Platinum members, and this was far below the Marriott service we’ve usually received. We had requested a 4 p.m. checkout in the app when checking in, as we normally do, but the desk never acknowledged it. Around 8 a.m. on checkout day, we messaged again to confirm. Only then were we told there was no availability, although we were offered a late checkout for an extra $50. That made the availability explanation seem inconsistent, more like an upsell than a real limit. The front desk associate was polite and tried to help, but said the manager, Scott, had to decide. I asked her to contact him so I could explain our situation directly. I was beside her when she called, and she clearly told him a Platinum guest was at the desk and wanted to speak with him. Scott refused to take the call. The associate said he was at home and had declined. After years with Marriott, we’ve never had a manager refuse even a brief conversation while we were on site trying to resolve an issue calmly. He told the desk to give us a general customer service number instead. I called Marriott’s main line, but the representative couldn’t help and said only the manager could decide. Mid-call, that representative abruptly hung up, yelling that my earphone sound was hurting his ears. It was an astonishingly unprofessional interaction. The app request seems to have been overlooked, the paid checkout offer made the explanation feel disingenuous, and Scott wouldn’t speak with us while we were there. That left us unsure whether our child could get back into the room, on a morning when I was unwell and needed rest. I had to file a complaint through the main line. We’ve generally had positive Marriott stays with managers who listen, which makes this episode especially disappointing.

All four wheels were stolen from my vehicle while I was staying here. The back lot has no cameras. A kind airline pilot saw the end of the theft and gave my insurance a statement, and police arrived within 5-10 minutes. They said a Honda Pilot at another nearby hotel had the same thing happen. The hotel is conveniently close to BWI, but I wouldn’t risk leaving a vehicle here. In this area I’d avoid hotels without valet or security.

Getting back from the airport was a rough end to an otherwise good stay before our trip. We followed the directions and called once we had our bags, then waited 45 minutes for pickup while Hilton and Marriott shuttles made several trips with the same drivers. When the Sheraton driver finally arrived, he seemed clearly sick and was quite rude. I felt bad for him and tried to tip, but he politely refused. The room was clean and comfortable, the amenities were great, and staff were friendly and helpful. It was our first sleep-and-park experience, and next time we’ll probably try Marriott or Hilton.

We had a wedding room block here and were very happy with how accommodating the Sheraton was when arranging it and making a few needed changes. The staff were kind in small ways throughout our stay, and our guests felt welcome too. Compared with the bland corporate feel common around here, this place is cozier, with a lounge on the first floor and a nice view out back. Ask for a room facing the rear.

The staff are the best part, especially Scott at the front desk. He can handle 800 things at once and still makes me feel like I’m the only guest he’s helping. I’ve stayed at more than 50 rooms here, which I’m not proud of, but they’ve all been super clean. The big, well-lit lot is handy when I have a car, and when I don’t, I can call for the shuttle. Not every nearby hotel has one. I’m around BWI a lot as a travel professional, and I really like this place.
