Housekeeping kept the room tidy, and everything worked. The hotel is clean and perfectly usable, but the worn furniture, dated decor, and little signs of wear make the whole place feel tired and overdue for renovation. It’s fine if you just need somewhere to sleep and don’t mind the age. With some work, it could be much better.

The staff were the best part. Jackie and Victoria at the front desk, along with Laura in the lounge, were welcoming, pleasant, helpful, and made sure we were looked after. The rooms were a decent size, with thick walls that kept noise down, which was great for our puppy’s first hotel stay. The location was okay, and the holiday week price was almost half what other similar Marriott properties nearby charged. The hotel looks like it hasn’t been updated in over twenty years, though. There’s chipped paint, worn wall edges, peeling wallpaper, and stained carpet all over. It’s shabby, but mostly in ways that seem cosmetic. The shower was a real pain. Getting hot water took a secret handshake with the hardware, then it would turn ice cold after a minute or two, so you had to do the whole routine again. Not great when you’re in a hurry. The hotel needs a facelift, but the rest of the place seemed in decent enough shape. Passable, not great, not bad either. The shower and the general wear did make the stay disappointing despite the price.

Our king suite had lots of room, a comfortable bed, fast Wi-Fi, and complimentary bottled water. The staff were very friendly, too. The pull-out couch mechanism was broken, and maintenance couldn’t fix it, but they quickly brought us a good roll-away bed instead. Other minor problems in the room were inconvenient and made it seem like the rooms weren’t well maintained. We were there with my husband and daughter for a stay-to-play hockey tournament, which requires participating teams, players, and coaches to book authorized hotels at inflated rates, presumably for kickbacks. Our daughter’s team had to stay here. When we arrived late Thursday, we found out hotel policy banned hockey sticks from rooms because of past damage. We’ve traveled for hockey for years and never run into that rule before, especially at a hotel choosing to take part in this arrangement. They charge hockey teams more despite the expensive equipment, then expect us to leave it in our vehicles without guaranteeing security. After some discussion, the friendly staff agreed to store the sticks in the luggage room, so at least we reached a compromise. The $16 buffet breakfast was comparable to the free breakfasts at other hotels, and not very good for the price. The fresh fruit was excellent, though. We tried it on the first morning and didn’t go back. On Sunday, checkout day, I came down around 9 or 9:30 for coffee before we left. There was no free coffee station for guests, just a $4-a-cup setup inside the restaurant. In all my many years and hotel stays, that was the first time I’d seen a charge for basic hotel coffee. For the price, the stay was underwhelming and a little disappointing. The spacious room and friendly staff were the upsides. If we have a choice next time, I’d look at what other hotels offer.

Emile from events and catering made our wedding at Sheraton a breeze. She was easily the best venue coordinator I’ve ever worked with, and the best vendor we had by far. She’s knowledgeable, understanding, and hardworking. This is an incredible establishment, and Emile deserves all the credit for how smoothly everything went. Thank you so much. We can’t wait to work with you again!

The hotel works well for meetings and small conventions, with a modern venue, nice rooms, friendly staff, and lots of places to sit. It’s attached to an office building, and they share many of the meeting spaces. There are lots of little rooms, so bigger events can be confusing to navigate. The pool is great and well maintained, and it kept the kids busy. This place also draws wedding groups and families visiting The Morton Arboretum. There used to be two racquetball courts, but now they’re padlocked storage rooms. They could be useful as meeting or recreation spaces. The guest rooms mix old and new, cheap and luxurious. The beds are medium firm, the TV is large and modern, the windows are big, and the layout is open. There’s a great chair with a pull-out ottoman that works as a nice place to work or watch TV. The bathroom must have been great ten years ago. The baskets over the tub are rusting, paint is peeling from the ceiling, and the bottom of the vanity is swollen and peeling after years of water and humidity exposure. Even the fire sprinkler head was getting rusty. I thought the bathtub had no stopper, then found it outside the tub on the day I left. Skip the $16 breakfast buffet. It reminded me of those greasy Howard Johnson’s highway buffets. Everything was lukewarm and bland, the pancakes were like cardboard, and when the orange juice ran out they brought more milk instead. Some of it was edible, and the coffee was decent, which is about the best I can say.
