The location near Van Damme is the only saving grace. The walls are horribly thin, and you can hear everything from neighboring rooms. There are no facilities, no amenities, and no front desk. The door locks are cheap Chinese locks. Don’t come expecting peace or relaxation. This “inn” is just a little room with a bed.

Before you arrive at the Inn at Buckhorn Cove, be sure the host has emailed the entry code and other check-in details. There’s no front desk, and mobile coverage is limited around there. Amy is incredibly helpful and easy to reach if you need her. My room was clean and comfortable, with a charming fireplace that made it feel cozy. The bathroom facilities were top-notch, and I had everything I needed to unwind. The inn is right on Route 1, making it convenient for getting to Mendocino town and other attractions. With its good amenities and Amy’s attentive help, I’d wholeheartedly recommend a stay here.

We chose this remote spot for our Wedding Anniversary trip with our family of three, and the Zen Suite had just the quiet getaway we wanted. The room was laid out perfectly, and on our clear May days we had a lovely ocean view. The spa tub was the cherry on top for a relaxing soak, and the kitchenette worked great. We especially appreciated the full fridge. Some people mark the reviews down because it’s remote, but that’s exactly why we picked it.

It felt like having our own little cabin, tucked a bit away from town, which we liked. The rooms were clean, beautiful, and just the right size, with the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. It was quiet when we visited in March, and the pricing was reasonable. The place is about three miles south of Mendocino, and we’d absolutely stay again.

We enjoyed our couple of nights here during a road trip. The cottages are lovely, just a few minutes from Mendocino, and look out over the ocean. There are only a few on the property, so it was peaceful, and the views were spectacular. The bed was extremely comfortable, too. Anne and Hank were hospitable, and even left us a card after hearing it was our anniversary. Mendocino is a charming little town full of shops and restaurants, definitely worth a visit.
