Hyatt Place Detroit/Livonia

Marina at the front desk was a huge help from our first day. She sorted out directions, maps, and room arrangements, and patiently answered all our questions. She was the standout among the front desk staff we met, warm and efficient, and made us feel welcome. Terry also made breakfast a lovely part of our stay. She was kind, attentive, and helpful, and her friendly manner made the morning comfortable. We really appreciated both of them. We came the night before my mom's appointment because her specialist is right across the street, so the location worked out perfectly. The room was clean and spacious, and the desk clerk was friendly and helpful. The only thing I noticed was that the coffee cups in our room were dirty and clearly hadn't been replaced. I figure it was an oversight. Everything else was great, and we'll stay here again for her next appointment.

We left right away, so the money I spent on the room felt wasted. I booked it for my daughter's birthday mainly so she could use the pool, but they only told us after we'd checked in that it was closed for testing. There was no warning or sign, and I should have been told before paying so I could decide whether to change plans. I was also worried my daughter might get sick after she'd been playing in a pool that needed testing. The staff were rude and unprofessional. I'm very disappointed, and I won't come back.

Bugs were crawling around in our room, and we recorded videos after killing several of them. Even after we showed the staff what we'd found, they wouldn't move us, saying the hotel was fully booked. We felt dismissed and left to deal with an unhealthy, uncomfortable room instead of getting help. That was unacceptable both for hygiene and customer service. Check your room carefully before staying here.
