Best Western Llano

A clean, affordable room, including the pet fee, with a comfortable bed, hot shower, and generous breakfast. I liked having a reserved parking space right in front of my room. When I had trouble with the key, the front desk fellow came over immediately to help. Thank you!

After driving straight for 12 hours from Phoenix, I was just passing through at 1am and needed a room. Other hotels nearby couldn't or wouldn't help, but GM Ceto Desal got me checked in quickly and was gracious about it. The room was nice, the King bed very comfortable, and the refrigerator and microwave handled the food and drinks I'd brought. Hot showers, too. Breakfast was served at 6 sharp, and Mr Desai was already up preparing food and refreshments for everyone. I enjoy Best Western hotels, and if I pass through Llano Texas again, I'll definitely return because of Ceto's kindness and professionalism. I appreciate it, sir, and BWHotels. The rooms need updating and maintenance. In the first room there was something that looked like a blood stain on the floor, and the second had peeling trim above the carpet, missing paint, a very worn chair, and pubic hairs left on the shower tub. A few things did go well: breakfast had a good selection, including microwaveable Jimmy Dean sandwiches; despite being near the highway, we didn't hear traffic from our room; parking was ample, the pet-friendly spaces were roomy, and the shower pressure was excellent. We stayed two nights over Christmas while visiting family in Llano, with two rooms booked for four people. We won't return and have warned family and friends, because of how one employee treated us. The lock on the first room didn't work, so the door could be opened without a key. I told the front desk employee, and he checked it, then oddly offered to guard the door because it was a safe area. I said we weren't comfortable leaving our things or our dog in a room with a broken lock. He fiddled with it until it locked, but then a key wouldn't open it from outside. Luckily, my husband was inside and could let us in. Even after the employee brought a contraption to reset the lock, the key still didn't work. I asked for another room, since the malfunction could either let anyone in or keep everyone out. We'd only been in there less than 15 minutes, just using the sink and restroom, bringing in our dog, and setting down our bags. At first he ignored my request, so I repeated it. He raised his voice and said, "I heard you ma'am. But you have already dirtied this room." I said the broken door wasn't my problem and asked again for a new room. Still raising his voice, he said it was above his pay grade, so I asked him to call someone. He walked off to the office and shouted "Merry Christmas" over his shoulder in a menacing way. He returned with new keys and watched us from the doorway as we moved our belongings, as if he thought we'd keep using a room with a broken lock. His behavior was bizarre and disturbing enough that we slept with a chair and a loaded ice chest against our locked door both nights, worried he might do something to us. The next day I reported him to the "owner," who shrugged it off without an apology or acknowledging the behavior was unacceptable. The hotel's value wasn't worth that unsettling experience. Stay somewhere else for a safer, more secure visit to Llano.

It was quiet, and the host at the front was pleasant, but this non-smoking room sure didn't smell good. The carpet was heavily stained, the bathtub rusty, and the bathroom baseboards filthy. I won't be back.
