We booked two nights and things were fine, even though there was no microwave and we had to make do. We then needed a third night and paid the full rate online. But after turning on the AC, our room was still 89 degrees an hour later. When we asked the front desk for a room with better AC, the owner’s wife yelled at us. She brought a maintenance man, who briefly brushed his hand over the top of the unit and then left without coming back. My husband went to the front desk, where they had called the police. We were told it would be best to leave and contact booking.com for a refund, after the woman had screamed that she would give us a full refund. The bathroom had cigarette burn marks beside the tub and on the sink, our towels were still wet when we got the room the first night, and the room smelled like someone had been urinating everywhere for days.

The remodeled rooms are excellent, and the prices are excellent too. They also have weekly rates, usually around $350, for rooms that aren’t part of the latest upgrades or remodeling. You need to ask management about that when booking. There are cameras running 24/7, and police units check the area every day for anything that seems out of the ordinary.

For what I paid, I expected little more than a mostly clean room with a bed and shower. I’ve stayed at hotels costing $400 a night, so this was a pleasant surprise. Everything was clean and worked except for one lamp. The photos were accurate. My only complaint might be that the big bathroom mirror kept telling me to lose weight. I’m a very light sleeper and worried about being close to the front office, but both nights were quiet. Kudos to management. I’d stay again if I’m in the area.

The room I got looked nothing like the online photos.
