Poppy Sister Inn

We picked Lodi for its charm while we were in town for a wedding in Walnut Grove, and it was the right call. It was wonderfully relaxing and felt like the heart of character-filled small-town USA. Trish is a fantastic host, and her quiche is the best.

Breakfast was delicious on both of our stays, and we had lovely chats with the other guests. The whole house is clean and cozy, the beds are incredibly comfortable, and both the Master Suite and Black and White Suite were nicely appointed. Check-in was easy, and the quiet neighborhood felt safe. We had no concerns leaving our kayaks tied to the truck overnight. We first came to buy a couple of kayaks and wanted to be close to Lodi Lake and downtown. This house was perfectly placed for both, and we've now stayed twice. Trisha, the owner, is responsive, lovely to talk to, and a joy to meet. Every room has its own bathroom, which matters a lot to me. If you need more bathroom counter space, I'd suggest the Downstairs Suite. We were only there to kayak, so I didn't bring much, but for hair tools and good makeup lighting, I'd choose that suite. I look forward to coming back!

We liked talking with our host and getting to know her, and one evening she even shared her favorite wine with us. The location was ideal for walking into town and getting to the places we needed to visit. Sleep was pretty poor, though, because of loud trains and street traffic. Our room was average, with a tiny bathroom and sink. Breakfast got repetitive with egg dishes three days in a row, and coffee was only available from a Keurig, with no pot.

We loved the tree-lined, quiet and safe neighborhood, and enjoyed chatting with other guests over breakfast before heading out. The rooms are darling, and Trisha cooks a delicious breakfast. She's also great for local recommendations if you're new to Lodi, and she was able to help with my need for gluten-free food. It's a great place to stay near downtown.
