The strong sewer smell was getting worse when I left, and other guests told me it was coming from a nearby room. I ended up driving four hours home that night. Earlier, I’d found a cockroach between the sheets while getting ready to relax, then spotted another on the wall. I recorded a video and went straight to the front desk. Other guests in the lobby were reporting similar problems. The manager offered to move me, but the attendant said there were no rooms available. One guest said they’d already been moved three times because of ongoing issues. They refunded me after I showed the video. Check-in itself had gone well, and the front desk staff member was attentive and informative. Still, the property clearly needs renovation, and the cleanliness and maintenance need serious attention.

Parking was easy, and the place felt quiet and safe. The location also made it convenient to get to nearby restaurants, shops, and attractions. I found the room clean, comfortable, and well cared for, and the staff were friendly, professional, and quick to help. For the price, it’s a good value compared with other places around there. I had a very pleasant stay at the Red Roof Inn in Lompoc, CA, and would happily return or recommend it to someone looking for an affordable, comfortable place to stay.

I don’t usually post much, but this stay was one of the worst I’ve had at any hotel or lodging. The bedding was dirty, with marks and stains all over it, and the room itself was in bad shape. The door looked like it was nearly coming apart. The smoke alarm had been tampered with and had wires hanging out, which is a fire hazard and a serious occupational code violation. There weren’t any towels ready either. I was told to wait until the manager could be onsite to deal with that. I’d stay away.
