The town was calm during our November 2025 visit, though I can imagine it getting crowded in peak season. We spent two nights here and had a good stay. Rain and clouds cut into our outdoor plans, so we couldn't really enjoy the views, but they would have been lovely in better weather. The hotel sits on the main road, with plenty of places to eat just a short walk away and lots of parking. It seems like a good base for exploring the eastern Sierra and Alabama Hills.

The Dow has plenty of history, and we got to enjoy it for a night. We were pleasantly surprised to be given a much nicer room than we thought we'd booked. It was clean, the beds were really comfortable, and the view was great. My spouse used the pool, and everything felt quiet and well cared for, so it was easy to unwind after a long day. We'd gladly stay here again.

We chose this place for the pool, but it was packed with vans full of kids and looked like a seventh-grade hangout, so we never went in. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and nice. I probably wouldn't recommend it to someone who's coming mainly to use the pool.

The staff were friendly, and the newer rooms are nice. I was first put in the old historic section, which wasn't for me: the room was dinky, the bathroom tiny, and there was no counter space by the sink, which sits in the main room. The original radiator heating has no temperature control, and the sign says to open the window if you get hot. I asked to move to an updated room, and the front desk was happy to help. I love the hotel's location for Alabama Hills and Mt. Whitney, and highly recommend it.

We stayed on the motel side and found the room comfortable and well placed for visiting Lone Pine. We really liked the town and the nearby Alabama Hills. Our plan was just one night before driving through Death Valley NP, but we would've been happy to add another. We were glad we picked this hotel.
