Shore Haven Resort Inn

Arthur and his parents, Adan and Christina, made us feel so looked after throughout our stay. They were kind and helpful, and the property has a lovely Old Florida look, with balconies, stucco tiles, bright colors, and palm trees. The beds and pillows were comfortable, the shower had great pressure, and the kitchen was stocked for making meals. There’s laundry on-site, plus two pools, one heated, a hot tub, and a playground out back. From here it’s about a two-minute walk to the beach, lots of shops, and a dozen restaurants. We had such a good time that we’re hoping to return next year, and the years after that.

For $150 a night, this was really disappointing. The pool was clean, our towels seemed clean, and the shops and beach were nearby, but those were the only positives for me. The hotel needs updating and felt like it was still from the 70s, in poor shape. There was a musty, moldy smell in the main office, which smelled like a dirty litter box too, apparently because the owner had cats living there. In the room, I found hairs on the sheets, floor, and in the bathroom. They seemed to use a strong Fabulosa mop solution to make the place smell clean, but it didn’t solve the mold issue. The old mattress and pillows need replacing, the fridge smelled bad, and I didn’t want to use the kitchen set because it wasn’t clean and the cabinets had a mountain of ants. I’d have been much better off at the Coral Key Inn.

The owners are a lovely family who really want guests to have a great stay. The rooms are roomy, come with a kitchen, and have great showers. It’s a quiet spot, very close to the beach. A hotel that reliably delivers.

We picked this place after reading the reviews, and I’m really glad we did. The owners were kind and accommodating. We usually stay in Fort Lauderdale Beach, but this may be our new place to stay in South Florida.
