Long Barn Lodge

Helpful staff, a place with some character, and a good price. Just come expecting a small town lodge.

The person who checked me in was really nice, but the room and building were in rough shape. Dusty, broken blinds were hard to close, and the curtain didn’t cover them, so light came into the room at night. The bed was poor quality, with a broken frame that sagged in the middle. I’d expect to wake up with back pain. There were stains along the wall bases that might have been mold or water damage, and a machine outside made noise all night. Sleep was basically impossible, even with earplugs. I could hear what sounded like furniture being moved and stomping upstairs for hours. The old building carries every sound, and there didn’t seem to be quiet hours. At 10 pm, kids were still screaming outside like there was a loud party. I’m glad they were having fun, but I chose this over camping to get some rest. I hadn’t slept in the two days I’d been there, and at 10 pm I was still hearing the stomping and kids outside. Miserable place to sleep.

The Luxury Cabin is comfortable, and the fireplace is nice. The kitchen has good equipment, though a cabin that sleeps 8 had only four cups and very few spoons. The cabinets could use a quick wipe, and the king mattress needs replacing. When the other person turns over, it feels like I’m surfing on water. I sleep deeply and don’t hear anything, but I can still feel it. There’s constant noise from the Ice Skating rink. Staff are nice people. We stayed in the motel area before the renovations last time, and it was fine, with a cabin-like feel. Don’t forget to tip!

The grounds are well kept, with such plush grass, and the rooms are clean and unique. They’re very dog friendly, too. I’ve stayed here many times, and the staff are always kind. Dierdre and Mike are so helpful and make me feel like a princess. Hidden gem! Adding to my review on 11/26/24..
