Adrift Hotel

Adrift is just seconds from plenty of shops and places to eat, and the staff were so welcoming. On my recent quick overnight visit with my dog, we had a lovely, quiet stay in a beautiful ocean-view room. I’d also visited a month earlier with my best friend to use the pool, despite the freezing weather, and the spa. That was another lovely room, and I had the best massage and facial I’ve ever had. The hospitality was top-notch, and it was so affordable. We had a wonderful time.

We’ve been coming since 2016, and now that we’re married and have kids, we still bring them here nearly every year to make more family memories. The kids love spotting all the dogs that stay here, and we enjoy taking the bikes out on the dune trail. The pool and sauna are fantastic, the location is great, the staff are lovely, and the pickled fish is delicious.

We’ve stayed here at least ten times between the Adrift, the Inn, and the boardwalk cottages, and we’ll keep choosing it. The rooms are comfortable and cozy, but the employees are what make it a five-star place for us. They’re always friendly and accommodating, and if something does go wrong, which is rare, they deal with it quickly. We absolutely love this place.

I booked mainly for the pool and sauna, hoping to enjoy them in winter. I hadn’t realized the pool is covered from rain but open on one or two sides, so you have to walk a few steps through the rain to get to the barrel saunas. It was raining when I went, but that felt like part of the sauna experience. It was my first time using a barrel sauna and I loved it. I had to turn it on myself beforehand, but after a bit of swimming it had warmed up enough. I went in the early evening as it was getting dark, during a stormy night. The pool was warm enough for me, though not too hot. There’s another hotel in town with a pool, but I haven’t stayed there, so I can’t compare. I loved being able to walk straight out to the beach or the dune trail. I chose this place because it’s dog-friendly, and the vinyl floors without carpet were appreciated since they’re easier to keep clean. I had a single room on the second floor. The elevator scared my dog a little, but there’s also a convenient stairway just outside. I didn’t get to try the upstairs restaurant, but I was glad there was a coffee bar in the lobby. When I couldn’t get the TV working, someone from the front desk came quickly and reset it. The rustic decor, with rough wood, metal, and lights that reminded me of a boathouse or cabin, was nice. It wasn’t bright enough for reading at night, so I’d bring a small light, but the big window brought in plenty of daylight. It may have been quiet partly because it was midwinter, but the hotel is also set back from the main road with trees behind it. I really appreciated the peaceful room. All I heard was the ocean and rain.
