All 8 Motel

A good spot for a couple of nights, with clean rooms and sheets in an area that didn’t feel unsafe. It’s close enough to downtown LB, and rideshare fares are reasonable. The nearest metro station is a couple of miles away. Good for the price.

Check-in on Friday, 10/7/23, went smoothly, from 8:10 to 8:22 PM. The room was basically clean, and the laminate floors were clean too, though I found a small bug crawling on the bathroom tile and squashed it. The appliances seemed to work when I first checked them. The furniture was cheap and worn, and the room had only the bare minimum. There was no bathtub, just a very small stand-up shower suited to a skinny person. The wash basin was right beside the front window and door. I couldn’t find an ice bucket, coffee maker, drinking cups, coffee, or condiments. There was no closet or clothing hook, and only one nightstand with no lamp. The parsons-type table had two chairs. In the bedroom, the ceiling fixture was the only electric light, and one of its two required bulbs was missing. At 11:25 p.m., I called to complain about disruptive noise from the accident upstairs that was keeping me from sleeping.

Room 31 was clean and had plenty of space, including a roomy shower. I didn’t get to see the workers. The location felt sketchy, but the rooms felt safe. Not bad at all, 8/10 would recommend.

It was quiet and cheap, but an hour after checking in we noticed the room reeked of smoke and asked to move. The man at the counter said every room was booked, even though I counted only ten cars in a lot serving 25 rooms. The room looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks, with chipped paint, a TV that didn’t work properly, and a rusty shower curtain rod. It reminded us of a third world country. Then four police cars arrived and busted three people right below our room. Thank God we were only there for one night. Word to the wise, stay somewhere else.
