Colonial Pool and Spa Motel

The room wasn’t worth $90. It smelled strongly of disinfectant, the light didn’t work, and a generator ran all night. The showerhead sprayed in every direction, there wasn’t a trash can, and reception was unfriendly. Never again.

The only clean part of our room seemed to be the shower, and even the bathroom ceiling had stains and hair. Thankfully there were no bed bugs, but there were roaches everywhere. I’d seen the cats roaming outside, which was my only bit of relief. There were a lot of them, but there’s no way the stay was worth what I paid. We booked a two-bed room for the night. From outside, the place looked okay, but inside it smelled musty and moldy. There was graffiti on the walls, patched holes that hadn’t been painted, loose screws sticking out, and what looked like mold coming through the walls. A bathroom door with a huge crack looked like it had been kicked in and put back together, and it wouldn’t close, so there was no privacy. Two huge mirrors beside the left bed had a crack running all the way across. I doubt the room had been cleaned at all. The floor was so filthy it turned my feet black, so I kept my shoes on for the rest of our stay. The toilet barely flushed, around 20 black cigarette burns marked the right side of the nightstand, and the microwave was grimy and rusty. We found hair and dirt under the pillows. I didn’t trust the room enough to put clothes in the drawers, and two drawers were missing anyway. Staff were unresponsive or rude. They hadn’t left toiletries or towels, and when we asked, the staff member seemed offended. The people weren’t there when we checked in, and the woman in the office almost didn’t give us a receipt after I said how disturbing the room was. The Google photos must be from when the place first opened, or they’re staged. Don’t go here if you can help it. This place needs to be condemned.

We booked from Thursday to Saturday, but everything looked sketchy when we arrived and was nothing like advertised. The room felt unsafe and was in ridiculous condition: cigarette burns on the blankets and curtains, stained headboards, spiders and flies, more stains, dirty torn furniture, and unfinished walls and paint. There was no breakfast included as advertised, though after seeing the room I wouldn’t have eaten anything there. We checked out an hour after arriving, and they didn’t even ask why. We spent that hour on the phone with Expedia. A few days later, Expedia said they refused to refund us, not even for the second night we didn’t use. I’ll share what happened with all the booking sites and hope they remove the listing so no one else has this experience.

I was given one dirty towel and a washcloth with holes and stains. The sink didn’t work, and the shower kept running hot water the whole time I was there. It was more than a trickle, and I couldn’t get it to stop or even slow down. The toilet wasn’t secured, so it slid from side to side when I sat down. The rooms look like they’re never cleaned. I pulled the comforter back and found food crumbs and dirt on the blanket underneath. The worst part was how many roaches I saw crawling on the walls, in the shower, and on my bed. The conditions are atrocious and unhealthy. In my opinion, they need to tent and treat the motel for roaches and whatever other bugs are around, or close it permanently and take the whole place down. I don’t understand how it’s still in business. Please stay somewhere else.
