Pine Ave Inn

The rooms have been redone recently and tastefully. Someone put money into the place, and it shows. I can tell from the neighborhood that it didn’t always look like this. Whoever did the work did well. Mostly, the women running the place on Christmas Eve deserve the credit. They treated us like we were home on winter break from college, not strangers staying one night. We thought the rooms had fridges, so they got us a bag of ice and a cooler. That’s just the tip of the iceberg. They treated us like we were at the Hilton. To the staff, this is the couple you helped out. Thanks, and happy new year.

The owner or manager was very pleasant, but the inn didn’t look like the photos. The room smelled like stale cigarette smoke as soon as we walked in, and there was a burn hole in the comforter. No trash cans, no closet for clothes, and no bathroom mirror. I understand they’re remodeling, but that should have been mentioned so people know. The inn is in a rough part of town, and luckily we only stayed one night. A guy came into our room because the person managing the place gave him our key card. That was terrifying. I looked at him and said, “What the heck?” The office was right across from our room. My husband had to push the table against the door so we’d feel safer and know no one else could get in. We also saw a couple of cockaroaches.

When we arrived, the front desk told us all the rooms were flooded and we couldn’t stay. We hadn’t heard from the owner or host about how to check in or confirm our reservation. The woman at the desk wouldn’t give us the owner’s name, which made us think something was fishy. We’re trying to get our money back through Airbnb. The area was bad too. Please don’t stay here, I don’t recommend it at all.

This place was a disaster and falsely advertised. There are sketchy people staying here, people yelling at you from the street, homeless people coming and going, and it always felt unsafe. The walls are very thin, and our room was filthy. Management isn’t hands on and doesn’t seem to know what’s happening in rooms after guests check out, so if you leave something behind, it probably won’t be returned. There are no security cameras at all, and a pile of key cards sat on the front desk where anyone could grab one and get into the rooms. I guess you get what you pay for. Never staying here again.
