Best Western of Long Beach

I’d stay here again. The staff were professional, the hotel was well kept, and my spacious room was very clean and looked just like the pictures on the hotel website. I wasn’t disturbed by anyone or by other guests’ noise. One thing to know: parking costs an extra $10 a night. I was in room 327 and could hear the trolley stopping and starting, along with its announcement, “DOORS ABOUT TO CLOSE,” all day. Hope that helps.

For one quick night, this was OK, and the staff were great, always smiling and professional. Breakfast had plenty of choices and wasn’t bad. The room was comfortable, though dark, and housekeeping had overlooked a few things. You can leave your car here during a cruise, and the shuttle both ways was awesome. The location isn’t great if you want to walk out for dinner. There’s nowhere nearby to stroll to, and it may not be the best part of town. Driving for food is possible, but navigating isn’t easy unless you know the area well. A transit unit runs down the middle of the street, so it’s a fairly long walk to a corner where you can cross. If you bring food ahead of time, there is a refrigerator. The hotel was nice enough, though perhaps not as nice as some other BWs I’ve stayed at. I can’t see staying longer because of the location.

The staff were polite and understood when we reported the problem on our first night. We were in room 421 on the top floor, and equipment on the roof above us kept starting and stopping, causing a horrible vibration. The next morning they moved us to another room. The hotel is clean, nice, and updated. Without that issue, they were on pace for a five-star rating.

We stayed overnight before our cruise, left our car for seven nights, and everything worked out great. The shuttle was perfect, and the staff helped us figure out dinner that evening. The hotel may be getting old, but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. I’d stay again for a park-and-cruise trip.
