Courtyard by Marriott Long Beach Downtown

The room at this Courtyard was spacious, and there's a restaurant on site along with a Top Golf Swing Suite. Parking costs around $50 a day, which feels steep since the property doesn't have its own parking.

The restaurant was nice, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The downtown Long Beach location is good. In our room, ventilation could have been better: it smelled like steakhouse cooking next door, and the bathroom toilet smelled like sewage. The floor above us was thin enough that we could hear people walking around.

I travel for work a lot and often stay around downtown Long Beach. This hotel is convenient for our corporate office, and I arrived in the middle of the night for a five-night stay. The first room the night staff gave me had a view that made me uneasy, especially knowing I'd be there for five nights. I asked right away about an upgrade and was unapologetically told no. I figured I wouldn't stay there again. But the next morning I spoke with someone who completely turned things around. She was kind, understood my concern, and moved me to a much better location. I enjoyed every night after that. Her name is Jeanette, and her service and attitude mean I'll return monthly. I travel there at least once a month and usually bring along three to eight extra reservations. I hope she's recognized for the great customer service she showed.

The Verizon cell towers were down yesterday, so I used the hotel's phone to call family in Oklahoma. It's 2026, and long-distance calls aren't like they were in 1996. I made five calls, maybe two minutes each, though I didn't keep track, and each one cost $20.91. When I raised it with the front desk, they said, “nothing is free at hotels.” There was no apology or sympathy, just that long-distance calls aren't free. Whatever the situation, they should have shown some understanding. Terrible service.
