The gym here is better equipped than what I usually find in hotels, and the rooms were pretty good too. It’s right by the convention center, which worked well since I was in town for an event and brought my family along. I could head to the convention while they went shopping or checked out the water and nearby sights. Most guests seemed to be traveling for business. The elevators were having some kind of issue during our stay, but I’d still recommend it to anyone here for work who wants to bring family.

The views were lovely and the staff were wonderful, but our room felt old and neglected. The bed wasn’t comfortable, the couch looked and felt like it belonged in the 90s, and the carpet needed cleaning. The wallpaper was peeling too. It seemed like we’d been given a room that hadn’t been updated. I expected more from Hyatt, since the other locations we’ve stayed at were better maintained.

Cedric at the front desk kept us entertained, and he was a huge help with early check-in and suggestions for things to do nearby. We were only there for one night before a cruise, and the port was about an eight-minute Uber ride away. Uber was much more cost-effective. The Mediterranean restaurant Cedric recommended was just as good as he said it would be. We also got a room upgrade with a few extra perks, which I’ll leave for you to discover if you upgrade too. 😂😁 The concierge was really nice, and they washed our luggage so we could go eat before it was time to leave. Housekeeping was amazing, and we had no problems at all. We’ve already decided we’ll stay here again when we come back to Long Beach. I had photos of the room but can’t find them now. Cedric deserves that $10,000 raise! Definitely a 10 out of 10, and we’ll be back.

Cedric at the front desk was awesome, and there are lots of restaurants within walking distance, plus a discount card for some nearby spots. You can walk to the pier too. We were on the top floor and had great views. The room was large and clean, though the hotel feels a bit dated. The TV was big, but awkward to operate. I also found the lighting dim, the thermostat hard to adjust, and there was no makeup mirror or bathroom fan. The outdoor pool was fairly warm in December, and the hot tub was nice. Pool towels are available, but you need a card to get them. The workout room is well equipped with Peloton bikes, seated bikes, an elliptical, treadmills, weight machines, towels, mirrors, yoga pads, and a water dispenser. The breakfast buffet was pricey.

The room was nice, the staff were friendly, and I appreciated having a gym. Ana also helped sort out some billing problems for me. When an odd smell developed in my room, they promptly offered me another, which I was glad about. The hotel arranged a great Hollywood Tour, though guests have to organize any other tours themselves. There could be more choices in the market and more appealing breakfast options. I’d also like to see the hallways cleaned more often. I noticed more homeless people around Long Beach, which may reflect broader social challenges, and I even helped someone find a lost phone. There didn’t seem to be many activities during my visit, possibly because it was the off-season. Long Beach and the harbor were okay.
