Wave Resort

The location made the stay easy for us, with kosher food options and shuls within walking distance. Even in cold weather, the views are lovely. Put on a coat and take a walk on the boardwalk, listen to the waves, and enjoy the atmosphere. The Wave Resort was affordable, clean, and comfortable. We really appreciated having kosher breakfast at the hotel and a full Shabbos menu. We had a very good stay and would definitely come back.

The rates felt fair for what you get. It's quiet, right on the boardwalk, and there are useful services nearby. The lobby and bar are cool, the workout room is decent and has a view, and the pool is lovely when it's open. It's a new hotel in great shape. The rooms are modern and clean, with decent amenities, and I loved the walk-in shower. We had a decent ocean view even though we hadn't paid for one or received an upgrade. I didn't like or expect the parking charges: valet was $55 a day, and I was told self-parking nearby was $40 a day. That felt opportunistic. I'd give it 4.5 stars.

We did appreciate the rose petals, which were lovely. The room itself was very nice, but a few things went wrong after we arrived at midnight from a wedding. Nobody was at the front desk to help us, and we waited ten minutes for someone to show up. The toilet wasn't working, either. Since we arrived so late, it would've been good to have checkout at 2 p.m. without being charged $100 per hour. That's crazy.

I bought two massage gift cards for my brother and sister-in-law and made sure they covered both the treatments and gratuity. When I purchased them, I was assured my relatives wouldn't have to pay anything out of pocket. But earlier this week, they were each charged another $100 for "facility services." As I understand it, all they did was use the bathroom to change, so they spent $200 for what amounted to locker room use. I wasn't told the gift cards excluded those fees. The rooms apparently hadn't had time to warm up for their morning appointments, so both massages were cold. My sister-in-law accepted some tea, which was cold too. I wanted to give my hardworking brother and sister-in-law a relaxing, luxurious treat. They were disappointed, and I felt embarrassed. I've contacted the resort and received no reply, so I'm posting this here. I don't need anything from you, but please be clearer with gift card buyers about whether facility or resort fees are included. And if rooms need time to heat, maybe don't book early appointments before they're warm. I chose your spa because a friend recommended it and the reviews were positive, but this fell short of expectations.
