La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Longview North

My mom and I had a wonderful little weekend away. Dakota at the front desk made check-in and the rest of our stay great, and she was happy to help with whatever we needed. Our TV and heater both acted up, but she got them fixed. We'll definitely come back. Our one complaint is that the website said there was a hot tub, but there isn't one.

The bathroom walls had old water damage, and within five minutes of entering the room we spotted a cockroach. We took pictures, grabbed our things, and left. An employee said the manager would refund us. They did return my $100 deposit, but I'm still waiting for the $82.11 room charge. It's now January 7, after this happened on December 14, and they keep asking me to wait three more days. It's been three weeks. Contacting Wyndham was pointless because they said the place is independently owned as a franchise. Since the manager won't respond, I filed a claim with my card and hope the chargeback is approved. The location is convenient, but don't stay here. After reading the reviews, it seems this has been going on for years.

Please switch to duvet covers. I'm tired of trying to keep the unwashed comforter off my bare skin when it's wrapped with an unwashed top sheet and a loose clean sheet underneath. That setup makes no sense and slips off with barely any movement.

We weren't told the third floor had been without hot water for three weeks, since the last ice storm, or that the water pressure was so low. No one at the facility mentioned it at check-in or called ahead. When we phoned the front desk, they said the company wasn't offering refunds and there were no other rooms available. As a woman, I should be able to take a hot shower and wash off my period. I was furious that I couldn't even do that, and it felt inhumane. At the very least, I should've been allowed to decide whether I wanted to stay.
