Hilton Garden Inn Kennett Square

The lobby and rooms were spotless and beautiful, and our room attendant did a wonderful job. We were greeted warmly at the door, and the gentleman at the front desk was phenomenal. The location was handy, with shops nearby and a Walmart right there when we realized we’d forgotten something at home. Everyone’s hard work really shows. This was such a lovely place to stay, and we’ll definitely be back. Thanks to the whole staff, especially the front desk gentleman and the guest room attendant.

My wife questioned the rate at check-in, since we were charged differently from what we booked, plus $100 for incidentals. The attendant told her it was take it or leave it. The next morning, another couple was disputing the same thing, and the manager or owner said by phone that he could change the rate without notice. He’d doubled the daily rates and said it was legal, adding that he could deal with our credit card company. We travel more than 10 times a year. Hilton is off our list now. Marriott doesn’t do this. The staff came across as arrogant, and there were no amenities. Avoid this place.

The room was clean but plain, and the noise was awful. I could hear my neighbors talking and cars constantly passing outside, with no TV channels to help drown it out. Mediocre at best. Don’t stay here.

We booked several rooms, but the room wasn’t ready on time before a wedding. At 2 a.m., it took more than an hour to get access, and I was given someone else’s reservation. The person on duty had no phone support to help resolve the access problem. Staff also gave a key to a room that was already occupied, which was dangerously incompetent. The staff were clueless, defensive, and unhelpful. At checkout, the manager complained that I’d called at 2 a.m. and refused to check the facts with cleaning staff who supported my account. We were charged in full.
