Comfort Inn Ebensburg

The room was the point where I knew we had to leave. There were dead bugs all over, around 30 by the window, dozens on the floor, and more on the bed. I packed our things and waited in the car, trying to decide what to do because the roads were still dangerous. I didn’t feel safe there, and the hotel was filthy. Earlier that night, on 1/19, I’d been driving with my young daughter through a snow and ice storm on rt 22. My husband had booked us a room online, and I was relieved to get off the road. Check-in was fine, but the clerk looked strung out, and some very sketchy people in the lobby seemed to know him. They set off my mom’s safety bell. I’d put my phone on the front desk while checking in, then couldn’t find it. The clerk acted oddly and said he hadn’t seen it. It wasn’t in my car either. I called my husband from the room phone, and he used Find My Phone. He said it was at the hotel and kept pinging it until I found it in a snowbank about eight parking spots from my car. The clerk who checked me in was sitting in his car smoking near where I found it. My husband is a police officer and said people sometimes steal phones, then toss them when they can’t get into them. Strange. We’d been there less than 30 minutes. My husband called the next day to ask about a refund, after we’d finished traveling for the holiday. A woman cursed at him and said I should have complained at the desk. I hadn’t felt safe doing that. This was the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had. The staff seemed questionable, and the place felt dangerous and unclean. I wouldn’t stay here as a woman traveling alone or with kids. There’s shady stuff going on. Avoid it like the plague.
