The staff were caring and helpful when our mini fridge wouldn’t cool properly. We had to leave our food and ice packs with the kitchen staff, and they stored them for us. There was no microwave in our room either, which we missed, but the staff were happy to heat things up in theirs. The hotel has a lot going for it. We felt safe in the area at any hour, and the location in quiet Los Altos village made it easy to walk to restaurants and boutiques. Free parking was convenient once we got the instructions at check-in. Our cozy, unusual room had French-style antique decor and a firm, comfortable bed. In the morning, we could smell coffee and bacon from the café downstairs. Breakfast came on porcelain trays with a European feel, and the strong coffee tasted like French Roast. We also liked opening the window and hearing a faint, melodic clock chime nearby. The carpets in our room, the halls, and the elevator were worn and need replacing. Some design choices could use more color too, including the eggshell walls, bed skirts, and artwork. Refreshing the rooms while keeping the French theme would bring them closer to the charm in the hotel’s marketing photos. There’s still lots of potential here. My husband and I really enjoyed the hotel’s warmth and charm, especially the attentive, smiling staff, who clearly take pride in personal service. We’d gladly come back. With some design updates, this special property could stand out even more among Bay Area boutique hotels. We feel we chose a particularly special place to stay in the region.

I didn’t stay in one of the rooms, but the spaces I saw were beautifully put together, and the French-inspired feel made the hotel seem romantic. The dining area looked cozy, and the food and coffee were delicious. Service was excellent, and there’s a lovely park across the street for a stroll. Street parking has a two-hour limit, though there may be other parking options nearby. A charming place for a short escape.

Downtown Los Altos is an easy place to take an evening walk, and the patio is lovely for breakfast. The breakfast was surprisingly good, especially since they ship in croissants from France. Christian and Linda were particularly accommodating, and the staff were professional. I stay at five-star hotels around the world, but whenever I’m in the Bay Area, this is where I come back. Such a charming, caring, comfortable little hotel.

We spent almost $400 for six hours in a room we hadn’t chosen, after a stressful check-in and repeated false assurances. We couldn’t stay for breakfast. The night ruined a special occasion, and after I told management what happened, I never heard back. I’d avoid this place. My fiancé, now my husband, and I chose Enchanté for our wedding night. Months beforehand, we visited in person, picked a room, and made the reservation. In the weeks before the wedding, he called twice to confirm everything was set, and staff assured him it was. When we arrived on our wedding night, the door was locked. The front desk guy watched us trying to enter and ignored us until we called. My husband explained about our long-standing reservation, but he still wouldn’t unlock the door. It was freezing, and I was still wearing my wedding dress. Around 11pm, a guest came back and let us into the lobby. The front desk staff member barely acknowledged us, without welcoming or congratulating us. He kept saying there were no rooms and that he couldn’t find a reservation in our name. After we showed him the confirmation email, he reluctantly admitted a room was available, but said it had only a full-size bed. We told him we’d booked a King, and then he said there was a King room, though not the one we had originally picked. After a lot of back-and-forth, I asked for a discount because of the stress and time lost on our special night. He said yes. My husband paid quickly so we could get to the room, then later saw on his credit card statement that we’d been charged $80 more than the staff member had quoted.

We got a complimentary drink when we arrived, and breakfast was included as a continental option. The inn also serves lunch and dinner, except Sundays, and non-guests can eat there too. Behind the counter are adorable French gifts. I bought Hermes notepads as holiday presents for friends back home. What a lovely little inn with French flair. Our room was delightful, with a big, gorgeous bathroom and a fireplace. I strongly recommend it!
