Americas Best Value Inn & Suites Los Angeles Downtown SW

This place is filthy and smells like cigarettes. There are roaches here too. Do not bring your kids, and don’t come here.

It was pretty good compared with other places I’ve stayed. The staff were nice, and the cleaning crew did their job. I didn’t find any bugs, which was a surprise. There were cats on the property as well.

The rate for a full night felt too high, so my partner and I booked for a few hours instead. We both work graveyard shifts and can get exhausted. When checkout time came, the cleaning staff sometimes forgot to call or knock, then showed up about an hour later upset that we hadn’t left on time. I’ve never seen anything saying we had to check ourselves out, and I don’t think that’s our responsibility. If it is, I should be paid to do it. They hire people to clean rooms and check guests out. It isn’t my fault they forget, especially when we’re tired and got the room to rest. We get up as soon as they knock or call. One star for that. They should hire people who can manage checkout on time.

The rooms are bigger than standard, clean, and don’t smell bad. There’s a mini fridge in the room, and the staff are great. Peter, the manager, is awesome. The outside doesn’t look like much, but it’s cool inside. Nothing bad to say about the place.
